The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 comes out in less than a month (!), so here’s the final trailer to tide you over until then. Yep, final—so you better squeeze out every bit of meaning you can from it before the film comes out. Lucky for us, there’s a lot, from Katniss sifting through the wreckage of District 12 to Peeta sending her messages through Capitol airwaves to riots in the other districts.
A recurring theme of the Mockingjay trailers and TV spots has been Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) struggling to reach the citizens of Panem and each other through their own Capitol- or District 13-sanctioned pieces of propaganda. You see more of that here, with Peeta trying to impart a warning, though it’s becoming increasingly unclear whose side he’s on.
Similarly, we see more of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) discussing how best to utilize Katniss as their Mockingjay.
Also, lots of destruction all across Panem! Bombings, Peacekeepers holding back riots, and is that a flood?
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 comes to theaters November 21!
Oh, OK, so the whole part about D13 having all the nukes isn’t in the movie? Because I cannot imagine how what looks to be an invasion of the D13 bunkers is going to go down otherwise.
The “flood” looked like it might be the dust/debris at the front edge of a concussive wave, like an explosion of some sort?
Still no word on when the split happens?
Peta looks so sad… Much easier message to read here.
The emphasis on the trailers seems to be on freeing Peeta, so I imagine the split happens when he gets to D13 and is all freaking out to keep Katniss away from him
Somebody suggested (it might have been Aeryl, or somebody else) that it will happen when they rescue him and he wraps his fingers around Katniss’s neck. Maybe that’s a little TOO cliffhanger-y but I would love to see the reactions to that (among those who haven’t read the books yet).
I haven’t – and now it won’t be much to see, lol
My apologies :( Although if it is any consolation there are still plenty of things that will shock you if you haven’t read the book.
Mods: Is their a spoiler policy on movie threads? Should I white out my comment?
@8 – Unless a comment thread is explicitly marked as non-spoiler, everyone should assume that the discussion may contain spoilers — especially for books/movies that have been out for a while. However, if people want to white out potential spoilers for others as a courtesy, that’s much appreciated, but not required.
